As for the submenu called “ Site ,” it contains sub-elements, which are pages, articles, media, comments, and messages. As for the menu The subsection called “Design” contains templates and customization.

Note : This panel will be explained in detail in the last section of the article, since it should be an auxiliary panel and not the main panel, so that you do not get confused between the basic WordPress control panel and the blog control panel for the WordPress.com website.

Create a blog from the main control panel

We will explain what is required to create a blog from the main WordPress control panel . In order to create a blog, we must first know how to choose the template in which our site will appear, then know how to create blog pages, then how to make the list that will include these pages, and then after that we must know how to create Articles.

Choose the template in which the site will appear

The first thing you must do in order for your blog to appear to visitors is to choose a template , which will appear as a general form to any visitor to your site. In order to choose the template, go to the submenu from Appearance and choose “Templates” as shown in the following figure.

You will see a good number of free templates provided to you by the WordPress website. You can try the templates and choose what suits you to start the blog with,
then choose the template and activate it as shown below: the default template and explain what it will be based on.

Now you can open a new tab and type the site name wparlearn.wordpress.com in the browser and see your site and its general appearance.

Create pages and add them to the blog’s list

After choosing the appearance, we must start creating the important pages, such as the About Us page, the privacy policy, and other basic pages, which you want to show to the visitor.

First, we will remove the default pages provided by WordPress.com as experimental pages, by going to the Pages submenu and choosing “All Pages” as follows:

You will see the demo pages, which are pages that WordPress added specifically to speed up blog creation. These pages contain a quick design for the blog, but we will create the pages from scratch for more understanding and knowledge. Edit these pages and then turn them into a draft.
Note: You can remove these pages permanently, but it is preferable to You keep it so you can edit it and add it to your blog later.

Click the “Convert to Draft” button for all articles, as in the following example

Now go to Appearance and choose from its submenu “ Lists ”

In the next step, we will remove the page names from the main list, so that we can later create our own pages, customize them ourselves, and add them to the list instead of the deleted pages.

From the “ Lists ” page, click on the arrow next to each page, then remove all pages from the main list.

Then press the “ Save List ” button

After you delete the pages from the list, which represents the main site menu on the front end, go to the front end of the site and notice the disappearance of the old menu, as follows:

Now let’s start creating our new pages by going to the “Pages” menu and choosing “ Add New ” from the submenu

To create a new page, the following figure will appear to you, and it has several options, including creating a completely empty page, and you fill in its contents, or you can create a page from the templates added by WordPress.com, which are pre-made page templates.

We will choose “ Blank ” and then click the “ Use Blank layout ” button.

The editor will appear to you. Write a title, let it be “ Home ” to express the page that we will later use for the main page of the blog. This means that it will contain only two to three lines from each of the articles that you will publish on your blog.

After creating your home page, click on the Publish button . You will then see a confirmation of publishing, so click on it

You can now return to your WordPress dashboard by clicking on the WordPress icon on the far right

Return to “ All Pages ” in the “ Pages ” submenu from the main menu of the WordPress dashboard

Then repeat the same previous steps to create new pages, by going to the Pages tab , then from the bottom, choose Add New to add the “About Us” page, the “Privacy Policy” page, or any other pages.

Write all the information you want the visitor to your blog to see, then click the Publish button

After following the same previous steps and saving the About Us page, create a Privacy Policy page

Now we have three pages, and we must add them to the site’s special menu, so that they appear to the visitor and he can navigate between your pages easily. To do that, go to the submenu of Appearance and choose Lists.

You will see a page for selecting and adding menu items. Go to the “Add menu items ” dialog box, mark the check box in front of the three pages, then click “Add to menu.”

Your pages will be added to the list on the left side, so arrange their appearance by dragging and dropping the list items up and down as you wish, then save the list.

Go to the front to see your new menu items

Create articles for the blog

After that, your site is ready to use and you can start publishing your new articles and blogs.
We will now publish the first blog article, by going to the “ Articles ” submenu and choosing “ Add New .”

The article creation engine will appear, through which you can write the title and content of the article, and then format it appropriately

Now add an image to the article by going to the settings as follows

Then select the Article tab

And choose “Select and add a picture”

A drop-down menu will appear, choose “ Media Library. ”

A dialog box will appear to add the new image. Choose the Select Files tab, then click Upload

Choose the image you want

The image will appear as follows after uploading it. Click on the “Set featured images for the article” button.

Then publish the article and confirm publication

Then go to the front end of the site to see what the new article looks like

After creating the pages and articles, we need to know some important settings to display the name and description of your blog, and also some settings so that the articles appear on the main page of the site. To do this, go to Settings and choose “General”.

To change the blog title and description, do the following as shown in the figure, and then click “Save changes”

Go to the front end of the site and see the title and description change

Now we want the “About Us” page to appear as the site’s entry interface. We also want the articles page to appear grouped on the main page. To do that, go to Settings, then choose “ Reading ” from its submenu.

Choose the “Fixed Page” radio button, then choose from the “About Us” Home Page checkbox, and choose from the “Home Articles Page” checkbox.

Save the changes by clicking the Save button at the end of the page

To see the changes, go to the front end of the site and click on “About Us” from the menu. You will notice that the first special page has become About Us. You can change this page to any other page by following the previous steps.

Click on “ Home ” from the menu and notice that it turns into a page to display all articles
